COUNCILS OF EVERYDAY PEOPLE

Our Councils of Everyday People gather citizens to raise their voices, explain their personal impacts, and propose solutions to concerns and policies that are too often abstracted, distorted and de-personalized by institutions.

HERE/HOME traversed the city to with a mission to reframe and rebrand New Orleans’ intense civic identity, inclusive of as as many immigrant and heritage groups we could find to collaborate.
In partnership with Creative Time, BUREAU of CHANGE hosted New Orleans programming for Creative Time Summits, including Art, Place & Dislocation in 2013 and the collaborative Summit broadcast from Sweden Public Art Agency in 2014.
The BUREAU’s first council, Women’s Work, was a suburban dinner party with brisket, torte and apparel design activities for women in the workforce. Check out the American Apparel we created together!
In planning and funding stage, reCONSTITUTE will engage New Orleans citizens to rewrite the city’s constitutional document from scratch, using experimental interactive forums and inclusive democratic sampling.
